GENESIS 1

Heaven and Earth

 

1-2 First this: God created the Heavens and Earth—all you see, all you don’t see. Earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness. God’s Spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss.

 

3-5 God spoke: “Light!”
And light appeared.
God saw that light was good
and separated light from dark.
God named the light Day,
he named the dark Night.
It was evening, it was morning—
Day One.

 

6-8 God spoke: “Sky! In the middle of the waters;
separate water from water!”
God made sky.
He separated the water under sky
from the water above sky.
And there it was:
he named sky the Heavens;
It was evening, it was morning—
Day Two.

 

9-10 God spoke: “Separate!
Water-beneath-Heaven, gather into one place;
Land, appear!”
And there it was.
God named the land Earth.
He named the pooled water Ocean.
God saw that it was good.

 

11-13 God spoke: “Earth, green up! Grow all varieties
of seed-bearing plants,
Every sort of fruit-bearing tree.”
And there it was.
Earth produced green seed-bearing plants,
all varieties,
And fruit-bearing trees of all sorts.
God saw that it was good.
It was evening, it was morning—
Day Three.

 

14-15 God spoke: “Lights! Come out!
Shine in Heaven’s sky!
Separate Day from Night.
Mark seasons and days and years,
Lights in Heaven’s sky to give light to Earth.”
And there it was.

 

16-19 God made two big lights, the larger
to take charge of Day,
The smaller to be in charge of Night;
and he made the stars.
God placed them in the heavenly sky
to light up Earth
And oversee Day and Night,
to separate light and dark.
God saw that it was good.
It was evening, it was morning—
Day Four.

 

20-23 God spoke: “Swarm, Ocean, with fish and all sea life!
Birds, fly through the sky over Earth!”
God created the huge whales,
all the swarm of life in the waters,
And every kind and species of flying birds.
God saw that it was good.
God blessed them: “Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Ocean!
Birds, reproduce on Earth!”
It was evening, it was morning—
Day Five.

 

24-25 God spoke: “Earth, generate life! Every sort and kind:
cattle and reptiles and wild animals—all kinds.”
And there it was:
wild animals of every kind,
Cattle of all kinds, every sort of reptile and bug.
God saw that it was good.

26-28 God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them
reflecting our nature
So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea,
the birds in the air, the cattle,
And, yes, Earth itself,
and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.”
God created human beings;
he created them godlike,
Reflecting God’s nature.
He created them male and female.
God blessed them:
“Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge!
Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air,
for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.”

 

29-30 Then God said, “I’ve given you
every sort of seed-bearing plant on Earth
And every kind of fruit-bearing tree,
given them to you for food.
To all animals and all birds,
everything that moves and breathes,
I give whatever grows out of the ground for food.”
And there it was.

 

31 God looked over everything he had made;
it was so good, so very good!
It was evening, it was morning—
Day Six.

창세기 1장 

 

하늘과 땅의 창조 

 

1-2 모든 것의 시작은 이러하다. 하나님께서 하늘과 땅을 창조하셨다. 보이는 모든 것과 보이지 않는 모든 것을 창조하셨다. 땅은 아무것도 없는 늪, 끝없이 깊은 공허, 칠흑 같은 어둠이었다. 하나님의 영은 물의 심연 위에 새처럼 내려앉으셨다. 

 

3-5 하나님께서 말씀하셨다. "빛 하시니 빛이 생겨났다.

하나님께서 보시니 그 빛이 좋았다. 

하나님께서 빛과 어둠을 나누셔서, 빛을 낮이라 부르시고 어둠을 밤이라고 부르셨다. 

저녁이 되고 아침이 되니 첫째날이었다. 

 

6-8 하나님께서 말씀하셨다. 

물 한가운데 창공이 생겨 

물과 물 사이를 갈라놓아라 ! 

하나님께서 창공을 만드셔서 

창공 아래 물과 창공 위의 물로 갈라놓으시니, 그대로 되었다. 

하나님께서 창공을 하늘이라 부르셨다. 

저녁이 되고 아침이 되니 둘째날이었다. 

 

9-10 하나님께서 말씀하셨다 "갈라져라 

하늘 아래 있는 물은 한곳으로 모이고 물은 드러나라 하시니 

그대로 되었다. 

하나님께서 물을 땅이라 부르시고 모인 물을 바다라 부르셨다. 

하나님께서 보시니 좋았다. 

 

11-13 하나님께서 말씀하셨다. "땅은 푸른 움을 돋게 하여라! 

씨 맺는 온갖 종류의 식물과 열매 맺는 온갖 종류의 나무를 자라게 하여라" 하시니 그대로 되었다. 

땅은 씨 맺는 온갖 종류의 식물과 열매 맺는 온갖 종류의 나무를 자라게 하여라" 하시니 그대로 되었다. 

땅은 씨 맺는 푸른 식물을 그 종류대로 나게 하고 열매 맺는 나무를 그 종류대로 자라게 했다. 

하나님께서 보시니 좋았다. 

저녁이 되고 아침이 되니 셋째 날이었다. 

 

14-15 하님께서 말씀하셨다 "빛들아! 나오너라! 하늘 창공에서 빛을 비추어라! 

낮과 밤을 나누고 계절과 날과 년을 구분하여라. 

하늘 창공에서 땅을 비추는 빛들이 되어"하시니 그대로 되었다. 

 

16-19 하나님께서 두 큰 빛을 만드셔서, 그중 큰 빛에게는 낮을 맡기시고 작은 빛에게는 밤을 맡기셨다. 

그리고 별들도 만드셨다.

하나님께서 그 빛들을 하늘 창공에 두셔서, 땅을 비추게 하시고 낮과 밤을 다스리며 빛과 어둠을 나누게 하셨다. 

하나님께서 보시니 좋았다. 저녁이 되고 아침이 되니 넷째 날이었다. 

 

20-23 하나님께서 말씀하셨다. "바다는 물고기와 온갖 생물로 가득하여라! 새들은 땅 위 창공을 날아다녀라!" 

하나님께서 거대한 고래들과 물에 가득한 모든 생물과 온갖 종류의 새를 창조하셨다. 

하나님께서 보시니 좋았다. 

하나님께서 그것들에게 복을 주시며 말씀하셨다. 

"잘 자라서 번성하여라! 바다에 가득하여라! 새들은 땅 위에 번성하여라 !" 

저녁이 되고 아침이 되니 다섯째 날이었다. 

 

24-25 하나님께서 말씀하셧다. "땅은 생물을 내어라! 집짐승과 기어다니는 것과 들짐승을 각기 종류대로 내어라"하시니 

그대로 되었다. 온갖 종류의 들짐승과 온갖 종류의 기어 다니는 것과 벌레가 생겨났다. 

하나님께서 보시니 좋았다. 

 

26-28 하나님께 말씀하셨다. "우리가 우리의 형상을 따라 사람을 만들자, 그들로 우리의 본성을 드러내게 하여 그들이 바다의 물고기와 공중의 새와 집짐승과 온 땅과 땅 위에서 사는 온갖 동물을 돌보게 하자." 

하나님께서 사람을 창조하시되 하나님을 닮게 창조하시고 하나님의 본성을 드러나게 하셨다. 

하나님께서 사람을 남자와 여자로 창조하셨다. 

"자녀를 낳고 번성하여라. 온 땅에 가득하여라 땅을 돌보아라. 바다의 물고기와 공중의 새와 땅 위에 사는 온갖 생물을 돌보아라!" 

 

29-30 하나님께서 말씀하셨다. 내가 땅위에 있는 씨 맺는 온갖 식물과 열매 맺는 온갖 나무를 너희에게 양식으로 준다. 

모든 짐승과 새와 숨 쉬고 움직이는 모든 것에게도 땅에서 자라는 것을 양식으로 준다 하시니 그대로 되었다. 

 

31 하나님께서 손수 만드신 모든 것을 보시니 참으로 좋고 좋았다. 저녁이 되고 아침이 되니 여섯째 날이었다.
