사업의 추진 과정에서 전체  투입 금액에 비하여 큰 금액은 아니지만, 일시적으로 필요하여 자금을 조달하는 것을 말한다. 
일반적인 벤처투자에서는 예를 들어 투자 라운드와 사이에 중간 조건으로 주식 또는 전환사채를 발행하기도 한다.
